This was our most disappointing moment. We had wanted to try out Sobatei Rakuichi 431, Niseko, Niseko-cho, Abuta-gun, Hokkaido 048-1511 TEL: 0136-58-3170 (Use Karabina tel which is next to it 136-50-2850)
He's open from 11am to 3pm. He was supposed to close on Thursday and that was why we decided to be at Niseko on Wednesday but it was also closed on Wednesday. Well, we can always go the next time we visit Hokkaido. The restaurant is located on the first right off the road up towards the Annupuri ski ground. Parking is next to the restaurant called Karabina. Then you walk across a wooden bridge that is hidden behind the trees to find the restaurant. There is a sign on the door that says rude people are not allowed to come in, (this is a traditional when there is a master at work). This means that they choose you rather than you choosing them! Inside there is only a counter to dine which means places are limited and this due to the fact each bowl of soba is made fresh in front of your eyes. A good thing to order is "Juwari" which is 100% buck wheat soba nooble and a side dish of seasonal vegetable tempura. The evening sitting is by appointment only. This is for one group of people only that means you receive a very personal service, you choose the time and it's ¥5000 per person but cancelling at the last minute is not acceptable.
Well, we comfort ourselves with Hokkaido icecream which I have learned to love. Hokkaido milk is really delicious and so is the ice cream. I love the plain milk and the melon ice cream. YUMMY!
And we continue our drive to Hilton Niseko Village Niseko-cho, Higashiyama Onsen | Abuta-gun | Japan 0481592 T: 81-136441111 Parking Complimentary. The onsen was amazing with gorgeous views of Mt Yotei. We stayed for 1 night and it costs us ¥9,510
